BLOOM IN THE PARK – TICKET COMPETITION
Bord Bia’s Bloom Festival is taking place from Thurs 31 May – 04 June in Phoenix Park. Bloom is Ireland’s largest gardening, food and family event and last year 90,000 people visited the event. IRISH CYCLING SHOW- RDS – TICKET COMPETITION

DUBLIN CITY SOUL FESTIVAL
I now have the programme for you to download. The main events are the Soul Picnic on Saturday and Sunday, it is a two day affair this year. In addition there will be a really interesting exhibition of painted and “artified” musical instruments (mainly guitars) in the exhibition area upstairs in Stephen’s Green Shopping Centre. Then there is a Restaurant Trail and the Gospel Brunch (on Sat+Sun). So make sure you come to the Soul Picnic and have a look at the other events too. The Soul Picnic in Merrion Square is free and so is the Instrument Art exhibition.

BEALTAINE FESTIVAL 2012
The Bealtaine Festival continues still. It is a full month of events for the older age group and uses the theme “celebrating creativity as we age” this year. Estimates are that over 120,000 people will take part in Bealtaine. “From dance to cinema, painting to theatre, Bealtaine showcases the talents and creativity of both first-time and professional older artists. …” There is a vast amount of events and the big contribution of the Public Libraries makes this event even a bigger success. I have some event included again this week, but for more details you should check http://bealtaine.com/ and http://www.dublincitypubiclibraries.ie or have a look at the schedule here

Every year since 1977 International Museum Day is organised worldwide around May 18 and will have this year nearly 30,000 participating museums in 100 countries. The day is an occasion to raise awareness on how important museums are in the development of society. The International Council of Museum’s Advisory Committee organises the theme of the event and th theme for 2012 is ‘Museums in a Changing World – New challenges, New inspirations’.

The “Dublin Sketchers” is an informal group of typically hobby artists who go somewhere different in Dublin every Sunday (e.g. National Museum, Maritime Museum, Dublin Flea Market, Farmleigh, Botanic Gardens, Dublin Castle), sketch for one to two hours and then meet up for coffee afterwards and discuss their sketches. There are some hugely talented people among them and it is a great idea to meet up with others who have the same hobby. BAUHAUS: ART AS LIFE – GOETHE INSTITUT

The lecture “Bauhaus: Art as Life” with Kathleen James-Chakraborty will take place and admission is free. The Bauhaus was the twentieth-century’s most important and influential experiment in design education. Founded in 1919 in Weimar, Germany, by Walter Gropius, it moved to Dessau in 1926, and to Berlin in 1933, where it closed within months of the establishment of the Third Reich. Its faculty included many of the most important abstract artists of the day.
This lecture will focus on new themes in Bauhaus scholarship, including the increasing recognition being accorded the work of the women who taught and studied there. It will also refer to the exhibition with the same title which is currently on show at London’s Barbican. This exhibition is supported by the Goethe-Institut London.

Show Guns N Roses

Sem dúvida uma das coisas mais interessantes em se fazer um intercâmbio é a possibilidade de ver shows, fazer viagens e ter experiências que certamente não teríamos a oportunidade no Brasil, seja pela distancia de morar em pequenas cidades do interior ou pelo preço mesmo que sempre é abusivo. Com a chegada do verão o numero de eventos cresce em quantidade e também em variedade. Dublin é uma capital europeia então sempre faz parte da rota de todos os músicos, bandas, comediantes, peças de teatro e outras atrações. Você pode escolher ao menos uma atração por dia de domingo a domingo. Existem centenas de pequenas casas de shows, pubs, clubes de comédia, teatros entre as dezenas de possibilidades como o The O2, maior casa de shows de Dublin com capacidade para 14 mil pessoas (depende do espetáculo ele pode ser remodelado para 8 mil pessoas sentadas). Quando o show é “mais maior” como falamos em Minas o jeito é usar um dos 2 estádios de Dublin; o Croke Park e o Aviva Stadium. Se os organizadores preferem um local mais alternativo o Phoenix Park é a opção mais usada.  Fora de Dublin existem dezenas de locais usados para grandes festivais e shows como o Slane Castle, local preferido por todas as grandes bandas para gravar um DVD ao vivo.

Com esse cenário tão criativo e variado a coisa mais difícil é escolher onde ir. Não mentira, a coisa mais difícil é ter grana porque se você se empolgar em pouco tempo estará quebrado. Confesso que é muito difícil passar pelas ruas e ver cartazes de bandas que você realmente gosta e saber que não pode ir. O mais complicado é pensar que talvez você não terá outra chance na vida de viver essa experiência mais fazer o que né, o jeito e tentar ir em pelo menos tentar ir em alguns.

Logo depois que chegamos teve um show do Roger Waters e eu não fui, me arrependo e vou me arrepender pelo resto da vida mais infelizmente não era possível naquele momento porque nem previsão de arrumar um emprego eu tinhae  economizando do jeito que a gente fazia gastar 60 euros seria uma loucura, apesar do arrependimento foi o melhor a ser feito naquele momento. Logo depois várias e varias bandas tocarem em Dublin mais sempre na mesma, não tinha grana.   Como tem coisas na vida que acontecem e sem você querer acabei conseguindo um trabalho no The O2 então depois de agosto do ano passado passei a “ir de graça” em todos os shows. Claro que estou trabalhando e as vezes confesso que não dá pra ver muito o show mais só de estar lá e ouvir as músicas já uma coisa de louco. Como trabalho no meio do povo vendendo bebida sempre dou um jeitinho de ver pelo menos uma musica inteira ou dar aquela olhadinha de leve. Desde agosto já vi algumas bandinhas como: Red Hot Chilli Pepers, Rihanna, Katy Perry (2), Snow Patrol (2), Noel Gallagher, Rammstein, Van Morrisson, Florence an the Machine, Drake, Kasabian, Duran Duran entre outras bandas de abertura e eventos diversos como campeonatos de dardos, comediantes, WWE, danças etc. Trabalhando a mais de 9 meses sempre imaginava o dia que iria lá para realmente ver um show mais tranquilo e poder curtir a noite. Esse dia ficou mais perto quando foi anunciado o show do Guns N Roses em Dublin. Pensei, repensei e resolvi que não poderia perder a chance de ver uma das grandes bandas que gosto. Claro a banda não é a mesma da década de 90 quando ouvia e “viajava” mais quem se importa com isso. Foi uma noite muito legal que com certeza ficara marcada na minha vida. O interessante é você pensar que precisa trabalhar pouco mais de 6 horas (ganhando salário minimo na Irlanda) para pagar o ingresso de um show como esse. Esse ingresso especifico saiu por 56 euros então foi bem tranquilo comprar. Agora fico imaginando se eu fosse num show deles no Brasil quando que eu teria que pagar. No Brasil infelizmente a politica do “se colar colou” ainda predomina então os produtores cobram preços abusivos e o pior, todo mundo paga. Certamente não iria num show desse no Brasil porque se juntar ingresso, transporte, hotel e outras despensas de uma viagem gastaria cerca de R$ 600,00 (sim, moro no interior).

Agora que as coisas estão mais estabilizadas certamente vamos ir a mais shows por aqui entretanto sem exagerar porque qualquer euro gasto aqui pode fazer falta em algum projeto futuro. Nosso próximo “compromisso” é o super show de Lady Gaga, que vai acontecer no Aviva Stadium, (viva a democracia desse relacionamento hehehe). Se em dia de jogo lá já é bonito imagina com o campo cheio de gente. De acordo com minha previsão cerca de 70 mil pessoas vão estar no show. Nesse show da Lady Gaga o ingresso saiu mais caro, 96 euros cada mais da mesma forma do que o do Guns imagine que você tem que trabalhar apenas 11 horas para ir num show desse tamanho. Quando se compara com o Brasil em que você tem que trabalhar quase metade do mês (ganhando salário minimo) para se pagar um ingresso desse você desanima as vezes de pensar em voltar.Em geral todos os ingressos para shows no The O2 custam entre 50 e 70 e para esses shows em estádios entre 60 e 120 euros então se torna acessível a todos. Essa é uma palavra que você pratica muito aqui porque tudo á acessivel, basta trabalhar algumas horinhas e ir lá comprar, é bem diferente do Brasil onde temos que quase morrer de trabalhar para poder ir num show ou poder comprar qualquer coisa.

Dos eventos que estão marcados para esse verão tem 2 que estou em dúvida mais certamente vamos comprar para pelo menos um; Dia 7 de julho Swedish House Mafia, Calvin Harris e Snoop Dog vão botar o Phoenix Park para pular e antes no dia 3 de junho Avicci e outros Djs vão fazer uma festa de 6 horas no The O2. Estou com o dedo coçando para comprar os ingressos para pelo menos 1 desses mais vamos aguardar hehehhe. Vamos esperar, vamos aguardar, espere um pouco são as piores frases que se pode ouvir quando se quer alguma coisa heheheh.

O humor climático da Irlanda

Todas as pessoas do planeta terra que um dia tiverem a ideia de vir pra Irlanda certamente irão encontrar algumas informações no mínimo preocupantes em reação do clima Irish. A primeira coisa que temos que entender é que a Irlanda inteira é uma ilha, muito pequena por sinal então esta sujeita diretamente aos efeitos do mar. A primeira e notável conclusão aqui é que venta muito principalmente nessa época do ano. Algumas situações que enfrentamos e vemos pelas ruas chegam a ser engraçadas porque em alguns momentos tem nos segurarmos para não desequilibrarmos com a força do vento. Outra coisa interessante é a briga guarda chuva x vento; essa certamente o guarda chuva e todos os parentes mais próximos que são usamos para nos proteger da chuva acabam perdendo. É comum nessa época ver dezenas de sombrinhas abandonadas pela lixeiras e pela ruas. Nessa época um outro fenômeno muito comum é a chuva. Como tem chovido em Dublin, caramba. Claro quando digo chuva não pensem em chuvas que levam tudo como no Brasil mais sim uma chuva mais tranquila que não chega a assustar quem tem um blusa waterproof ou uma boa capa. O grande segredo para essa época do ano é andar sempre com alguma coisa para se proteger da chuva. Como disse não é uma tempestade como acontece no Brasil então é muito tranquilo e ninguém fica na rua o dia inteiro, tirando aqueles que trabalham, claro.

No ano passado se não estiver enganado nessa época do ano o clima esta mais estável já caminhando para o verão que começa justamente no dia 20 de junho com o solstício.  Como o clima anda realmente meio louco tivemos um final de semana no mês passado em que a temperatura passou dos 20 graus e foi noticia em todos os jornais por ser a temperatura mais alta registrada para o mês de abril em toda a historia. Com um final de semana tão quente todo mundo achou que o verão iria chegar mais cedo mais o que se viu na sequência das semanas foi uma serie e eventos no mínimo curiosos.

1) Frio: Depois de chegarmos nas temperaturas mais altas da historia para o período bateu um frio incrível na Irlanda que combinado com o vento dessa época assustou muita gente. Teve alguns dias que senti mais frio do que em todo o inverno. Claro, mais uma vez estava com minha blusa de 30 euros da Penneys (sim a mesma) que resolveu a parada.

2) Chuva de granizo: Também saindo do normal para essa época tivemos varias dias com chuva de granizo por toda a cidade. Para quem nunca viu neve, o granizo já é alguma coisa porque deixa os jardins brancos dependendo da intensidade.

3) Tempo fechado e chuva: As duas últimas semanas foram praticamente com o céu fechado, neblina e muita chuva. Chegamos a ter 4 dias de chuva sem parar (lembre-se não é chuva como no Brasil).

4) Four Sessions:  Essa expressão é bem comum aqui na Irlanda porque você pode viver em apenas 1 dia ou até menos as 4 estações do ano. Frio, vento, chuva, calor, (neve = granizo) combinados com outras loucuras do clima Irlandês. Para se ter uma ideia as vezes você sai de casa com o tempo firme e duas esquinas depois começa a chover. Umas 4 quadras depois a chuva para e o sol saiu bem forte (quando digo for é a luz porque ele não esquenta como o sol no Brasil) depois o sol vai embora e o vento trás um frio danado, é uma engraçado.

Com essa loucura faço uma pergunta pra mim mesmo: O que eu acha disso tudo? Por mais estranho que se possa soar a minha resposta é: EU GOSTO MUITO.

Como vocês sabem sou uma pessoa muito otimista e quase nunca reclamo de nada porque sei que a minha jornada aqui tem data para acabar (não sei quando mais tem) então um dia vou voltar para o Brasil para viver aquele calor infernal e as tempestades de verão. Sempre levo tudo na esportiva e tento não reclamar porque se você reclamar todo dia do clima  certamente vai chegar uma época que você nem vai sair de casa porque terá certeza que odeia a Irlanda. O segredo é sempre estar disposto pra tudo e encarar de uma forma divertida porque certamente você não viverá isso tão cerdo quando voltar para o Brasil e quem sabe nunca mais porque não sabemos se vamos ter outro oportunidade de viver essa experiência única que é morar na Irlanda.

Foto do dia – 21:30 h

É difícil acreditar mais essa foto foi tirada as 21:30 h ontem. Estamos nos aproximando dos dias em que o sol vai embora lá pelas 10 da noite até finalmente chegar o dia do solstício (20 de junho) onde o por do sol acontece por volta das 11 da noite, com isso por volta da meia noite ainda dá pra ver o horizonte avermelhado. Para se ver esse fenômeno claramente não pode estar chovendo ou nublado então vamos aguardar. Depois do solstício o por do sol vai fazendo o trajeto contrario diminuindo gradativamente até chegarmos no inverno onde a luz solar já dá tchau por volta das 3:30 da tarde. Coisas loucas que nunca veríamos no Brasil, nem mesmo no famoso horário de verão.

III Mateada Coletiva em Dublin

Será realizada em Dublin pela terceira vez a Mateada Coletiva, uma atividade muito comum no sul do Brasil e em paises como Argentina, Uruguai e Paraguai, onde os amigos se reunuem para “matear” (tomar chimarrão ou mate).

O evento tem como objetivo atingir o maior número possível de pessoas. A idéia não é apenas de reunir em um lugar as pessoas que amam essa tradição, mas também apresentar para tantos outros que não a conhecem.

Tratamento dentário em Dublin

Muita gente me pergunta no facebok sobre tratamentos dentários aqui na Irlanda então resolvi escrever um post para falar especificamente disso. Na verdade já era para ter falado alguma coisa sobre o assunto mais esperei primeiro ter a necessidade de usar um serviço desse tipo para depois explicar como tudo aconteceu.

Graças a Deus não tive nenhum grande problema como carie, canal ou coisas do gênero que só de pensar naquele barulhinho do consultório dentário já nos dá calafrios. No final do ano passado tive um problema num dente em que perdi parte de uma obturação que já tinha feito no Brasil então não foi assim uma urgência mas sim uma coisa que já esperava acontecer. Como tenho o seguro GTA foi só ligar para ser atendido e não tive a necessidade de pagar nada, veja aqui.

N Brasil temos um velho ditado que diz “Só procuramos médico ou dentista quando tem alguma coisa doendo”. Eu não sigo esse ditado e pelo menos no quesito dente procuro sempre fazer uma limpeza a cada 6 meses, tempo médio recomendado pelos dentistas para pessoas não fumantes. “Passei batido” pelo ano passado sem fazer ao menos uma limpeza porque estava economizando mais agora no inicio do segundo ano retomei meu planejamento de fazer 1 limpeza a cada 6 meses.

A primeira coisa foi pesquisar na internet sobre as clinicas e logo de cara o primeiro resultado foi da Smile Dental. Uma empresa que tem 16 clinicas em toda a Irlanda. Dei uma olhada em outras mais como já tinha ido nessa por indicação do seguro GTA resolvi voltar porque gostei do atendimento. Liguei na clinica que fica no centro (O”Connell) e agendei meu atendimento para o próximo domingo já que no meio de semana é impossível pra mim. Eles atendem aos domingos apenas em alguns clinicas então pesquise antes alguma que fique perto da sua casa e ligue para confirmar o melhor dia e horário pra você.

Uma coisa que achei muito interessante nessa clinica é que os preços dos serviços são tabelados e colocados a disposição de qualquer pessoa para pesquisar. Isso deixa tudo muito mais transparentes e a pessoa pode fazer uma pesquisa de preço e entender melhor como funcionam os processos.

O valor não é assim tãoooo caro e vale a pena. No final paguei 50 euros pela limpeza e ainda ganhei 2 vouchers com 10% de desconto cada para os próximos atendimentos.

Eu procurei algumas informações sobre manutenção de aparelhos mais não encontrei muito coisa. Sei que tem uma dentista Brasileira que atende numa clinica perto do DumDrum mais não consegui o contato dela. Aventuras Culinárias – Pão de queijo

Como já faz muito tempo que não postamos nada de comida aqui no blog (que milagre) resolvemos postar um segredo muito importante para todos “que moram lá pelas bandas das Minas Gerais”. Se tem uma coisa que todo mineiro se orgulha é falar do queijo minas que não existe igual em nenhum outro lugar do planeta e também o famoso e único Pão de Queijo de minas. Muita gente tenta imitar em outros estados mais convenhamos, “pão de queijo bão é só em Minas mesmo uai”.

Confesso que nunca tinha feito um pão de queijo na minha vida mais já vi milhares de vezes a minha mãe e também minha avó fazer então já sabia todos os segredos. Confesso que não sou assim um fanático por pão de queijo mais como a Stéfane adora lá fui eu descobrir uma receita que desse pra fazer aqui. Em termos práticos a receita é a mesma que no Brasil, o que muda é o queijo pois aqui não existe o queijo minas então usamos o cheddar mature que você encontra em qualquer supermercado. O chedder mature é igual ao cheddar normal de fazer sanduíche só que ele vem em barras e tem uma consistência mais firme para ralar.

Vamos aos ingredientes:

- 1 pacotinho de polvilho doce 500gr – Qualquer loja brasileira tem
- 1 pint de leite
- 1/5 pint de oleo
- 3 ou 4 ovos
- 1 pint de cheddar ralado fino (meia barrinha)
- Sal a gosto (1 colher sopa mais ou menos)

Preparo:

- Ferva o leite, óleo e o sal, tudo junto
- Coloque o polvilho numa vasilha
- Despeje o leite, óleo e sal ainda quentes (escaldar)
- Mexa com uma colher até misturar bem
- Espere esfriar (aqui em casa colocamos a vasilha na varanda e em 5 minutos já esta ótimo)
- Com a mão misture a massa novamente e vá acrescentando os ovos e o queijo até ficar uma massa homogênea. A massa não pode ficar nem mole e muito menos dura então tem o ponto certo. Por isso vai acrescentando os ovos e o queijo aos poucos até chegar no ponto ideal.
- Aqueça o forno a 150 – 180 graus
- Passe um pouco de óleo na forma e comece a enrolar o pão de queijo

Você deve fazer “bolinhas” do tamanho da sua preferência e logo em seguida colocar no forno. Para ter um resultado melhor você deve passar óleo na sua mão para não grudar. Eu gosto de fazer eles pequenos do tamanho de uma mão fechada porque 1 receita dessa dá para 2 pessoas comerem na hora e ainda congelar quase a metade para fazer depois. Você pode congelar ele assado ou para assar depois, dá na mesma.

Você pode variar a receita colocando um caldo de frango, orégano e quando ficar mais fera na receita por fazer de frango. Basta preparar o frango antes da forma que quiser e quando for enrolar o pão de queijo você colocar no meio de cada um e fecha bem, depois assa normalmente como o tradicional.

Você pode usar o cheddar ralado bem fininho ou usar aquela mais grosso que já vem em pacotinhos. Esse segundo da um resultado mais bonito mais o recheio não fica tão bom.

Pint é o copo oficial para se tomar uma breja aqui na Irlanda. A magia é tanta em volta desse copo que todas as receitas por aqui vem descritas em pint e 1/5 pint.

Utilidade pública: Passagem normal x Tarifa Estudante

Se você ja comprou o seu pacote de intercâmbio ou ainda esta pesquisando com certeza terá essa duvida: O que compensa? Comprar passagem com tarifa normal ou tarifa estudante?

A resposta certa é: AS DUAS.

Primeiro temos que definir quais as diferenças entre as tarifas:

1) Tarifa Estudante

A tarifa estudante é conhecida por “teoricamente” ter um desconto mais a sua principalmente vantagem é poder remarcar a data da volta sem pagamentos de taxas. Em geral essa taxa para mudança da data de ida ou volta gira em torno dos 100 dólares (KLM). Para ter direito a essa tarifa o aluno precisa apresentar a carta de matricula ou carta de referencia que é emitida pela escola. Na KLM você pode comprar diretamente do atendimento via 0800 com a tarifa estudante. Não é possível comprar usando a tarifa estudante através dos sites das empresas ou “buscadores” como Submarino ou Decolar. Em cada voo são determinados a quantidade de assentos com essa tarifa então o valor final dessa passagem vai depender de uma combinação entre disponibilidade x antecedência.

2) Tarifa normal:

A tarifa normal é igual a estudante só que o valor pode variar para mais ou para menos. Tudo vai depender da quantidade de lugares disponíveis e da antecedência da compra. Qualquer pessoa pode comprar essa passagem não sendo necessário apresentar a carta de escola.

Processo de pesquisa e definição

As empresas vendem a volta geralmente para 6 meses depois do embarque então se você pretende ficar mais que isso na Irlanda certamente terá que mudar a data do retorno. Se você vem para apenas 6 meses então se programe e possivelmente não precisará remarcar. A passagem só tem validade para 1 ano após o embarque então programe-se para voltar ou visitar o Brasil dentre de 1 ano após o embarque inicial ou então você vai perder a passagem assim como aconteceu com a gente. Depois que perdemos a passagem um amigo me deu a dica de usar o trecho da Europa apenas mais dai já era tarde. Nos tínhamos a passagem paga Dublin > AMSTERDAM > SP > BH. Poderíamos ter ido pra Holanda a turismo e depois retornado pra Dublin pagando uma passagem barato mais não tivemos essa ideia antes (triste).

Para descobrir qual tarifa compensa você precisa fazer uma pesquisa bem completa. A primeira coisa é fazer cotações em diferentes empresas. Você vai escolher uma data, por exemplo 10 de agosto. Ligue nas empresas e veja os valores para essa data e também para o dia 11, 12, 13, 20 e 25 de agosto. Anote todas os valores para a tarifa normal e a tarifa estudante. Você pode ligar e perguntar as duas tarifas na mesma ligação mais se o atendente começar a ficar meio sem paciência, desligue e ligue novamente até completar sua planilha. Liguei novamente e veja os valores para os dias 3, 5, 7, 8, 9 e da mesma forma tome nota. Com isso você vai ter uma apanhado geral dentro daquele mês. Faça isso em todos os sites possíveis e ligue em todas as empresas que você conseguir. Você pode fazer consultar em agências de viagens que dependendo da época do ano tem um poder de negociação então oferecem preços melhores que dos sites. Depois ao final você vai poder tomar a decisão se baseando em duas possibilidades:

1) Tarifa Normal + taxa de remarcação de 100 dólares (KLM).
2) Tarifa Estudante

Eu sei que dá muito trabalho mais somente assim você saberá qual a tarifa que compensa mesmo. Nem sempre a tarifa estudante compensa ao contrario do que todos dizem então é fazer conta é ter sucesso na compra.

Escolher a empresa também é outra dura missão. Não se deixe levar apenas pelo preço mais busque informações na internet sobre o atendimento. Dificuldades para se obter informações na conexão e principalmente problemas com malas. Vou passar a minha visão de acordo com a experiencia dos alunos aqui da NED.

1) Ibéria: Passagem + barata porem com problemas de extravio de malas e péssimo atendimento e informações em MADRI.

2) KLM: Passagem um pouco mais caras com poucos problemas

3) Air France: É quase igual a KLM por ser do mesmo grupo. As vezes dependendo da promoção o valor sai mais em conta.

4) Outras: Possuem ótimos preços mais dependem de promoções sazonais.

De vez enquando aparecem promoções na casa dos R$ 1400,00 ida e volta para Dublin em alguns sites mais certifique-se bem das condições dessas passagens em relação a remarcações porque geralmente a volta fixadas é para 2 semanas apenas. Se você pretende ficar mais de ano em Dublin dai é a melhor saída porque você vai perder a volta de qualquer forma (se não for usar claro).
